so i went to joann's today with my mother and my grandmother. while browsing i mentioned to my mom how cool it would be to make an apron. my mom informed me of how "big" aprons are becoming (bringing back the vintage) and i decided to make one as my little spring break project. i used about a yard of fabric and a little biased tape. here were my materials:
using the biased tape, we covered the top of what would be the pockets.
this is the finished top of the pocket.
this was the beast that made that happen. singer featherweight .
we sewed the scalloped edges in order for the seems to be inside the pocket and then simply sewed up from the scalloped edge to the top of the pocket.
we cut the straps and sew them in a tube in order for the seams to be incased. we left the part where the skirt portion would be place and only ironed the seams under. then we placed the skirt inside the opening and pleated to make it all fit.
we sewed it across in order to piece it all together and voila! finished product:
me pretty happy about my little project. so cute. now i just need to spend some time in the kitchen so i can try it out! :)
